Reid will be guest starring in another episode of Modern Family again! The air dat of that episode is May 9th. He is also in the finale. He has also been casted in two new films. One is called “Mall”, being filmed in LA this month. The other will be filmed in Mexico in June but I don’t know the name of this movie yet.

The cast of Modern Family has been shooting its third season finale all week in Los Angeles, but they took time out of their busy production schedule to attend the Paley Center for Media’s annual television festival. It was the second time the comedy series received the honor of being included, and this time, they brought the whole family, kids included. Before they took the stage, though, they hit the red carpet, and we got the scoop on two of their very special upcoming episodes: their “day-cation” at Disneyland and their season finale!
“You’re in Southern California, it’s just an hour away; it’s a day trip. It just felt like a natural story point. How do you do a show about a family in Southern California and not take a day trip to Disneyland!?” series co-creator Steve Levitan hypothesized with us.
“[Disney] was very behind it, and they made it very easy for us to do. They really worked hard to facilitate us and make it all come together. I was somewhat hesitant about it because I didn’t want it to look like a commercial for Disneyland, and I thought it might be a hassle to shoot there, but everybody had a great time.”
And while in Disneyland, the family gets to experience a number of rides– Dumbo and Splash Mountain both proving to be highlights– but they are also a bit distracted in other arenas. Claire (Julie Bowen) has invited a new boy (special guest star Matt Prokop) along, but her daughter Haley (Sarah Hyland) isn’t interested because her old beau Dylan (Reid Ewing) is back in the picture. It’s sure to provide ample laughs, not only because the boy Haley is rejecting is Hyland’s real life boyfriend, but also because it dissolves into a bit of a love triangle with Alex (Ariel Winter). Phil (Ty Burrell), meanwhile, fears he is too old for theme parks after getting dizzy on a rollercoaster, a storyline ripped from Bowen’s own inner ear issues.
Disneyland may be all fun and games, but things are bound to get more emotional as the season rounds out, and one major storyline comes to a close. Levitan shared that the plan was always for Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell’s (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) adoption plan to conclude this year, and that is exactly what will be happening. Will it be with celebratory banners or some tears? That will remain to be seen.
And Phil might have some heartbreak coming, too, if Alex is going to start dating. Earlier this season he had a hard time letting go of the idea of Haley as his little girl when he learned she wasn’t still a virgin, and now his other little girl will be going to the prom.
“Phil is a goofy sweetheart, but at the end of the day, he’s a protective dad,” Levitan smiled. “So he has a lot to deal with!”
